Anchoring the New Strategic Direction for the “15th Five-Year Plan” and Charting a New Chapter in the Era of Arts and Science Integration · The 2025 Year-End Summary Meeting of Collaborative Institutions of TASA Held
On January 24, 2026, a pivotal year marking the commencement of the “15th Five-Year Plan” period, the Tsinghua (Qingdao) Academy of Arts and Science Innovation Research (TASA) solemnly convened its 2025 Year-End Summary Meeting of Collaborative Institutions. With the theme of “Reviewing the Past, Grounding in the Present, and Pioneering the Future,” this meeting closely aligned with the nation’s strategic needs for innovation-driven development, industrial upgrading, and cultural prosperity in the new development stage. It systematically summarized the innovative achievements and development experiences from cross-integration among various collaborative institutions over the past year, with in-depth discussions on the development pathways and key tasks for the “15th Five-Year Plan” period. The principal heads of each collaborative institution presented reports focusing on their respective key tasks for 2025, work plans for 2026, as well as opinions and suggestions for institutional development. These reports showcased cutting-edge research achievements integrating art and technology with emphasis on the specific application scenarios and potential value in serving local industrial, social, and cultural development. They clearly outlined TASA’s proactive layout and profound accumulation in six major sectors: future mobility, future living, future fashion, future health and well-being, future learning, and cultural sustainable innovation.

During the open discussion, participants engaged in a lively and constructive exchange on how to further translate TASA’s interdisciplinary research strengths into substantive contributions to support the discipline development at Tsinghua University, as well as how to more precisely align with the needs of Qingdao’s key industry chains. It is worth mentioning that this discussion particularly integrated an international perspective to further expand the global coordinates of TASA’s interdisciplinary innovation efforts. E-Lab, a collaborative institution of TASA, fully participated in the discussion via online means. Its director shared updates on research and development trends in the integration of art and technology in Europe, as well as experiences in industrial transformation. Specific suggestions were also provided on how to leverage overseas platforms to introduce international innovation resources to Qingdao and connect with cross-border cooperation projects. As a key node in TASA’s global layout, the E-Lab enabled cross-time-zone intellectual collaboration, with integration of Europe’s R&D forefront, market channels, and international networks in real time into this seminar.

Institutions that demonstrated outstanding performance in scientific research innovation, achievement transformation, and social services for the year 2025 were awarded at the conference, setting benchmarks within TASA. Mr. WANG Jiansong, Vice President of TASA, presented honorary certificates to institutions awarded as the “2025 Outstanding Institution,” while extending his hope that all institutions will continue to delve deeply into their respective fields and achieve breakthrough development and expansion in the future.

In the end, Mr. WANG Jiansong began his concluding remarks by expressing gratitude for the work accomplished by various institutions over the past year. He affirmed their solid progress in exploring the integration of art and science, emphasizing that 2025 was a crucial year for TASA to consolidate its foundation and achieve systematic maturity. The progress fully validated the significant importance and unique value of constructing six major Innovation platforms and establishing open, collaborative R&D institutions. 2026 marks the beginning of the “15th Five-Year Plan” period. He extended his hope that all institutions will seize the momentum to transform the current favorable trends into sustained driving forces toward even higher goals. In future development, he hoped that all institutions will further clarify their directions, consolidate efforts, strengthen exchanges and cooperation, expand their thinking, leverage new quality productive forces to seek new directions, explore new pathways for distinctive development, create new models of win-win cooperation, jointly build a highland for arts and science innovation, and comprehensively propel TASA to new heights.
